How did you meet?
Shane and I met when I was 13 and he was 16. We were at a soccer camp in Armidale. I saw him across the room and vividly remember seeing him and being totally in love from that moment! I was extremely persistent and we kept in touch every now and then over 5 years. I finally finished school and our paths aligned again and we finally made it official when I was just 18.
How did they pop the question?
Shane and I had been together for 8 years and we had 2 holidays booked in 2019. One in Hawaii in October and Fiji over the new year. I was hoping that Shane would propose on one of the holidays but I was sure it would be in Fiji on NYE. Our holiday in Hawaii was incredible. We were staying at Turtle Bay Resort and had the best day. We had booked dinner for that night and I really had no idea. I remember getting ready and Shane suggested I wear a dress he likes. I feel like this should have been alarm bells for me but I genuinely didn’t click. We walked down toward the restaurant and I said to Shane that we should just go early. He said no no I’ve got a beer so we can’t go in yet let’s just walk along the beach first. When we got there we took a few pictures. It was an incredible sunset and a perfect afternoon. We put the phone down to take a timed picture and Shane went over to ‘check it’. Without me knowing he changed it to video and walked back over and finally asked me to marry him! Everything was perfect and I love that we have the video of the moment.
What was the wedding planning process like for you?
What was your wedding theme?
Our theme was classic, white and timeless. My bridesmaids wore white linen dresses, the boys had a light jacket and my dress was ivory white. My bridesmaids also had different white flowers and my styling was also classic and simplistic.
What song was your first dance?
We did an upbeat first dance when we first came into the venue. We really wanted everyone to be involved in it rather than standing there together slow dancing. Our song was Electricity by Dua Lipa.
Your words of wisdom to any couple getting married?
Soak in every moment. From venue choice, planning, and time with your bridesmaids or groomsmen because it goes so fast. It was the best year having the wedding to look forward to so just soak it all up and embrace it.
The Arctic Fox team helped with…
So much! I was so appreciative of their kindness, openness to change and how they embrace all of your decisions. Arctic Fox did our styling and flowers and I was obsessed with how it turned out. The girls were so lovely and genuinely loved their job which makes it so beautiful to see. I loved how Katie was so open about the costs and would always offer different options to save money or reuse flowers in different parts of the venue.
