Genna & Kyle

How did you meet?

We met over many vodka sodas on a night out – six weeks before Kyle was to be deployed to Afghanistan in the army. It was meant to be something to waste some time beforehand, but we realised we were perfect for each other!

How did they propose?

Kyle proposed on a nature hike in the Gold Coast Hinterland, with a ring he had made in Afghanistan in 2012, but kept a secret until 2015. Funnily enough, the nature hike only lasted 20min and he didn’t get a chance to propose.

Kyle insisted we go for a second loop and I was pretty grumpy about it (all I wanted was breakfast) until I saw him down on one knee halfway through the second go.

What was the wedding planning process like for you?

Pretty cruisey! We had to postpone once due to covid restrictions, which ended up changing the venue, florist, celebrant and a few other vendors. So it did feel like almost planning two weddings towards the end. We were so lucky to have such amazing vendors who made it a breeze!

What song was your first dance?

Your words of wisdom to any couple getting married?

Take time throughout the day to spend time with each other!

Also, don’t sweat the small stuff, remember at the end of the day no one is going to remember what did or didn’t go to plan – except for you. The guests always just remember a great wedding!

And lastly, practice your vows together beforehand at home on a date night. It made it special and we both felt so comfortable on the day with just a couple of tears instead of choking them back.

What was the most memorable moment from your wedding day?

Spending the morning getting ready with my girls and my mum was one of my favourite parts of the day! Doing the first look was 100% one of the biggest wins of the day. So great to see each other beforehand and the whole bridal party got to share bubbles upstairs whilst the guests arrive and get all excited together.

The Arctic Fox team helped with…

God, you guys were so great with our flowers and styling for the reception. Couldn’t believe we could have it all done by one company. It was a saving grace to have to change vendors.

Danae & Ben

Danae + Ben celebrated their love for each other with an intimate beach elopement for themselves and their little crew of five. Some couples opt to elope as it allows you to set aside stress, expectations, and throw out any traditions you don’t feel connected to.

I burst into tears, crying before saying yes! It was all so unexpected after the day, but it was perfect!
