Our top tips and tricks for the ultimate wedding day

We get asked by every bride that walks through our doors for our hints and tips for their big day and it’s no surprise! The lead up to the big day requires so much planning and the smaller details can be missed in the mayhem. At Arctic Fox Weddings, we are well and truly armed with wedding planning tips to help you host the best wedding day ever and today I am going to share them with you!

The great outdoors

If an outside or beach wedding, have a handy basket of sunscreen, insect repellent and band aids. Your guests will enjoy your day even more and be grateful for the thoughtfulness!

Wet Weather Plan

Ensure you have a quick and easy back up should the grey clouds decide to unleash at the last minute. If you have Arctic Fox Weddings enlisted as your Planning team, we will help navigate your guests to the alternate location. Or enlist a friend to coordinate on your behalf if needed. Consider a handful of umbrellas if there is a chance of rain for anyone who will be in your photos. Keeps the hair and make up fresh and stops a damp mood!

Lighten your list

If the budget is getting a little out of control, one of the easiest ways to trim the budget is to cut down your guest list to your closest friends and family. Half your wedding cost is wining and dining your friends and if costing you $100 per person, cutting 1 table of 10 can save you $1000.

Grandparents and significant family members

Don’t forget the grandparents! Button holes and corsages are a nice touch for the grandparents on your big day to help feel included.

Kids Policy

You can welcome kids to your wedding with open arms or you can make it an adult only affair but make sure you stipulate on the invite! This leaves no doubt with anyone and can help you avoid uncomfortable conversations. If kids are invited, make sure they have kid friendly food as well as things to keep them entertained. A kids table or zone is always fun, with paper and coloured pens and fun activities to keep them occupied and the parents relaxed!

New shoes

This is a big one and one that everyone recommends for good reason! Your wedding shoes need to be comfortable so make sure you break them in before your wedding day and that goes for the groom too!

Speeches

“Winging it” can be fun if you are good with words but if you are like the majority of people out there and freeze when standing in front of a crowd, make sure you and your guests have prepared and practised your speeches! A well prepared speech can have the house in raptures and bring a tear to the eye. Write clear notes and don’t forget to thank everyone that needs to be thanked!

Gratitude

Make a list of all the people you would like to make a special point of thanking on your big day including anyone who may have contributed to the wedding or honeymoon budget. Whether it is within your speeches or privately, time can slip away in the blink of an eye on the day and you can be left wondering if you thanked everyone. And don’t forget to send a thank you note to your family and friends for helping you celebrate. This small token of appreciation is often over looked and one that everyone appreciates. After all, who doesn’t love real mail and a hand written note?

Delegation

Your wedding day is the day that all your hard work and planning comes together… without you! We know it’s a massive thing to hand over your months of hard work but today is the day that it must be done! Enlist trusted friends and family to help with specific jobs. Does someone need to pick up the cake or flowers or take your favours to the venue?

Enlist them and confirm details with them 2 days prior ensuring they have any details required to get the job done i.e. addresses, phone numbers and contact person. Bridesmaids and groomsmen are there to ensure that everyone who needs to be in photos is ready so make sure they know who needs to be where.Enlist a Planner/stylist

Thinking your sister in law will be able to quickly set the tables and attach the arbour florals seems simple enough but in reality, there are so many things we don’t consider. If you don’t want to leave anything to chance, chat to Arctic Fox Weddings to see how we can help to ensure all those bigger AND finer details are perfect! Our packages allow you to have all your needs met so you can eliminate the stress as well as leave important relationships in tact!

We hope these wedding day tips will help you to bring your day together so that its enjoyable for everyone! It’s a magical day where all your family and friends get to celebrate you but also remember how special every marriage is.
